Ruvo has roots dating back to 1947 when company founder Rudolph “Rudy” Volkmer began manufacturing inexpensive machinery in a small shop in Long Island, New York.  The first specialty machine was produced in 1950, however, when Ruvo made a glass-cutting machine for the “Little Fuse Company” in Des Plaines, IL. 

In 1958 Ruvo produced its first pre-hung door manufacturing machine as well as its first stair router.  The basis for the modern product line had begun.

In October of 1972 Ruvo was moved to Largo, FL, and continued to have success in the pre-hung door equipment, and stair router industries.

Peter Holleman purchased the company in 1978 from the Volkmer family.  His son Bill took over the reins upon Peter’s death in 1986.  1989 saw the company put up for sale once again and in 1990 was purchased by Merrick Machine Company which moved the manufacturing operations to its plant in Alda, NE. 

Merrick’s engineering staff has made numerous improvements over the years to the Ruvo equipment line---most importantly by changing the machinery from air logic to electronic, as well as developing the computerization of the stair router.

Ruvo continues to be a leader in the automated door systems industry to this day and stands as the perfect compliment to Merrick’s Triad lines of wall panel, sub-component, window, stair, and millwork manufacturing equipment.
